News & Updates

✨ Grief can leave us feeling lost. But sometimes, the road back to ourselves becomes the foundation for something meaningful. Last week at Roll Call, Shatice Jones, Founder of Nava Living Co., shared her powerful story, “Finding My Way Back: How Grief Grew Nava Living Co.” She spoke openly about transforming personal pain into purpose and building a business rooted in healing, love, and resilience. Many entrepreneurs carry invisible burdens while continuing to build, serve, and lead. Without spaces where those experiences can be shared honestly, the journey can feel isolating. Roll Call exists to remind entrepreneurs that they do not have to navigate that journey alone. The impact was more than a networking event. It was an evening of connection, vulnerability, encouragement, and renewed purpose. Shatice’s story reminded us that healing and entrepreneurship can coexist, and that even our most difficult seasons can give birth to something capable of touching other lives. Thank you to Shatice Jones for trusting us with your story, to Rib Shack Smoke House for hosting us, and to everyone who joined us and helped create such a meaningful evening. This is what happens when culture, business, and community come together. We do more than exchange business cards. We build relationships, create belonging, and help one another move forward. 🔥 Omaha’s entrepreneurs are showing up, and the movement continues. #RollCall2026 #MACChamber #NavaLivingCo #OmahaEntrepreneurs #OmahaBusiness #Entrepreneurship #CommunityImpact #HealingThroughPurpose #SupportLocalBusiness

I don’t think it was a flute that I found the Midlands African Chamber. They put great effort into marketing themselves within the community. As an organization their missions involves helping BIPOC and immigrants by offering education, networking opportunities, mentorship, and more. I’ve been actively involved with their programs for “only” 6 months and I’ve gotten rewarded so much more than I would’ve expected. If you fit their target demographic, definitely give them a chance and check out what they can offer you!

MAC Programs and Initiatives

MAC Xcelerator

The MAC Xcelerator (MAC-X) is an enterprise accelerator program that supports early-stage startups and small businesses in Nebraska and throughout the Midlands, with a focus on entrepreneurs in undercapitalized communities and those with limited access to traditional funding. Offered twice a year in the Spring and Fall, MAC-X provides business training, financial incentives, and the opportunity to apply for the Pitch Black business competition.

Pitch Black

Pitch Black is a Midwest conference designed to boost entrepreneurship in communities that have faced barriers to capital and networks. It features prominent speakers, a business expo, and a pitch competition for early-stage entrepreneurs building in undercapitalized markets across the Midwest. Participants compete for a grand prize of up to $15,000 and in-kind support exceeding $40,000. This support includes essential services like marketing, legal, and accounting to help grow their ventures.

Suit Up Program

The MAC Chamber’s Suit Up Program aims to empower young men and women to achieve economic independence. It offers support through professional attire, headshots, and job readiness training. The program focuses on youth and young adults in communities facing high barriers to economic opportunity, including new American and first-generation families. Its goal is to inspire and build a pipeline of future entrepreneurs.

Rising CEOs

Rising CEOs is a Leadership and Entrepreneurship program funded by the Omaha Community Foundation, Sherwood Foundation, and Weitz Foundation. It aims to nurture entrepreneurial spirit, technology, and leadership skills among youth aged 14 to 19 in communities facing high barriers to economic opportunity. The program focuses on creating opportunities for teens from new American, immigrant, and underresourced families. Its goal is to inspire and develop the next generation of entrepreneurs.

Members Emergency Fund

Our mission is to connect, empower, and support our member businesses through unity and collaboration. The MAC Emergency Fund reflects our commitment to standing by our members during challenging times. We understand that unforeseen events can threaten business stability. Our goal is to provide the resources and support needed to help members maintain their operations.

Scholarship Fund

The MAC Foundation Scholarships support first-generation, immigrant, and refugee-background high school seniors and college students, and all students committed to advancing economic development in underserved communities, pursuing Accounting, Finance, Law, and STEM fields. The scholarship aims to alleviate financial pressure for deserving students. Each recipient can receive a one-time $1,000 scholarship for tuition and books. The program seeks to reward students who show strong dedication to their studies and passion for their chosen disciplines.

Contractors Connect

Contractors Connect is a quarterly luncheon initiative by the MAC Chamber, aimed at fostering growth and providing valuable resources to underserved and emerging contractors. This program serves as a dynamic platform for small and emerging contractors to connect with larger general contractors, gain access to vital industry resources, and explore potential opportunities.

Trade Mission

Postponed

The MAC Chamber Trade Mission gives U.S. businesses the opportunity to explore markets in Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Togo, build strategic partnerships, and discover new growth opportunities.
