The Community Engagement & Development Associate will design and implement community engagement initiatives, support resource development and fundraising efforts, and coordinate programs and events that promote economic empowerment, entrepreneurship, and workforce development within the underserved and small business communities across the region.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Advocacy & Strategic Partnerships
- Champion advocacy initiatives connecting business owners, policymakers, and civic
- Act as key liaison between local community members and regional decision-
- Organize high-impact forums, listening sessions, and campaigns to elevate community
- Build and maintain strategic alliances with non-profits, corporate sponsors, and civic
- Represent MAC at public convenings, coalition meetings, and regional
- Drive outreach strategies that increase civic participation and chamber
Membership Support
- Drive member retention and recruitment initiatives across the
- Serve as primary point of contact for prospective members and visitor
- Manage and optimize member databases and outreach CRM
- Negotiate vendor contracts, event spaces, and logistics for Chamber
- Coordinate featured speakers, agendas, and topics for networking
- Oversee participant registration and ensure compliance with event safety
- Handle event financial tracking, promo materials, and post-event follow-
Development & Fundraising Support
- Support sponsorship campaigns, donor engagement, and fundraising
- Craft compelling sponsorship proposals, donor letters, and annual impact
- Maintain organized donor records and assist with grant-related
Communications & Outreach
- Collaborate with the communications team to support outreach efforts, including newsletters, social media content, and community announcements.
- Help promote MAC programs, events, and initiatives through strategic community outreach and
- Collect success stories, testimonials, and impact data that highlight MAC’s work and community
Administrative & Reporting Support
- Maintain organized records related to community engagement, partnerships, and program
- Prepare regular reports on engagement activities, partnerships, and program
- Support compliance with internal policies, funder requirements, and organizational
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency with CANVA, LINKEDIN, FACEBOOK, TIKTOK, ZOOM
- Demonstrated success in event management
- Demonstrated success in sales
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with diverse
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when
- Ability to respond to problems and to assist the Chamber with a calm, courteous, and helpful manner and attitude.
- Driver’s License (Required)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Community Development, Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business, Public Administration, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in community engagement, nonprofit programs, development, or partnership coordination.
- Experience working with underserved, or culturally diverse
- Familiarity with chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, or workforce development initiatives.
- Experience supporting fundraising, sponsorship development, or grant-funded
- Event planning or volunteer coordination
- Bilingual or multilingual skills are a
Work Environment & Expectations:
- Occasional evening and weekend work required for events and community
- Ability to travel locally within the Midlands
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a small, mission-driven
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time during
- Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at
- Must be able to work a variety of hours in order to accommodate
